Hi, I’m Heather, and I teach the Jolly Melodies (JMMC) music classes for Thornbury, and surrounding areas. Our wonderful singing and sensory classes for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers up to school age are running weekly during term time, along with a few Summer Specials during the holidays. A bit about me… I’m Heather, a former Primary school teacher of 14 years and mum to two lovely boys; my big boy Vinnie who is now 7! And my youngest, Koby, who has just turned 3! During maternity leave, and my part-time teaching I have loved attending Jolly Babies and Music with Mummy (our former name!) classes with my boys locally.

Being a mum is the best job in the world, but at times it is challenging and you certainly need your ‘mum tribe!’ Attending classes was just amazing for us all: it got us out in the morning, socialising with other mums and babies, and we’ve created such wonderful memories!  I love that I can facilitate this support network for you, through my Jolly Melodies Music classes, to give you your own amazing supportive ‘tribe,’ whilst having uninterrupted fun!  My classes are such an escapism, to really shut off from the outside world and enjoy the connection you have with your little one whilst singing, dancing, using props and percussion!  The to- do list will always be there… but for half an hour each week, it is all about YOUR TIME with your little one, seeing their face light up with the music, movement, singing, bubbles, puppets…and of course cuddles with you! We have lots of fun in our classes- everything from singing, dancing, actions, Makaton signing, puppets, bubbles, parachutes, and lots of instrument playing! Covid-19 has taught us even more about how to keep safe and healthy so hygiene, ventilation and a little distancing are key to ensure our classes are safe. All instruments and props are washed before and after every single session so you can enjoy your props bag every week without any worries. I do also sell Jolly Babies props bags should you want to buy your own set and carry on the fun at home, so just ask in class if you’d like to purchase a set.

Each week in Jolly Babies we start with a hello song so we can get to know each other, then we sing a variety of traditional and original action songs, use fun props, play instruments, dance or bounce, have listening time with bubbles and lights, and finish with a lullaby and a goodbye song. It’s half an hour of loveliness! Each week builds on the previous week so you get to know the songs to sing at home as well!

In Jolly Toddler classes, we really focus on developing your little one’s independence, social skills, language development and build confidence through our fun and exciting songs and activities. Each term we focus on key musical concepts such as loud and soft, long and short sounds etc through termly themes such as ‘Toys’, ‘Colours’, ‘Light’, ‘Family’ and we use lots of props, instruments, dancing, action songs and sometimes we even get the bubbles and parachute out too! Our themes include a mix of traditional and original songs and build on the learning carefully each week so you can both get to know the songs and the learning can continue at home as well! We finish each week with a fun goodbye song that everybody loves!

As well as weekly sessions, I also offer birthday parties at very competitive rates.

We will make lots of memories at your little Jolly Baby’s first birthday with this fun filled party session including a mixture of songs everyone knows and some Jolly Babies favourites! We will enjoy action songs, use fun props, instruments, dancing, voile parachutes, bubbles and of course finish off with a special happy birthday song for the special guest of honour!

Make your toddler’s birthday super special with this party package! We will have lots of fun with songs everyone knows mixed with some of our original favourites too. Get ready for lots of jumping, action songs, puppets, dancing, fun with props, playing instruments, parachute fun, and bubble chasing! Not forgetting singing a special happy birthday song for birthday superstar! Max 15 children.
