Josie Dade
Winchester parents and carers — you need ‘Jolly Josie’ in your life!
I’ve been here in Winchester teaching The Jolly Melodies Programme since 2006: small, structured classes full of simply gorgeous songs, music and activities.
We were formerly known as Music with Mummy, but nothing has changed — just our name! You’ll recognise many of the traditional favourites, and you’ll soon grow to adore our original creations too.
As an ex-primary teacher with an honours degree in Child Education and Qualified Teacher Status, I’ve had years of teaching experience with school-age children. But it wasn’t until Jolly Melodies entered my life — first as a Mum bringing my own little ones — that I truly discovered the joy of working within the magical early years.
One of my Mummies once told me we were quite literally the soundtrack to her children’s early years — the music that was there throughout their playtimes, their routines, and just daily family life in the first five years of their childhoods. Looking back now, she said it’s our songs she remembers most. I absolutely loved that.
From the tiniest new baby hitting those first developmental milestones, right through to toddlers and pre-schoolers exploring tempo, pitch, rhythm and their VOICE, it’s just an utter joy and privilege to be part of your child’s early learning journey and to facilitate the musical experience, the fun, the laughter, the smiles, the special moments and the song.
